Rocky Mountain Institute’s New Headquarters: Courage, Mistakes, and the Search for Genius

TRACK: Case Studies

This session will be an interactive case study of the Rocky Mountain Institute’s new headquarters in Basalt, CO. The building is designed as a net-zero energy Petal Certified Living Building in the coldest climate region of the US’ lower 48 states. The case study will provide an overview of the building’s design and performance to date. The session will highlight risks, challenges, and rewards the owner and design team faced in creating this new facility. The audience will participate in thermal comfort studies and a risk/reward agreement.
