Moving Forward: Achieving Net Zero Energy on Affordable Workforce Housing
TRACK: Energy

Moving Forward, a pilot project of IHCDA, was developed to push the boundaries of affordable housing by reducing the total cost of ownership through reduced energy costs from utilities and transportation. The Bloomington, Indiana site is part of a workforce development housing plan with access to the B-Line bike trail and within walking and bus line access to a new tech park. Project goals include Net Positive Energy and battery backup for the 30-unit, 55,000 SF building working closely with Duke Energy and Energy Systems Network including a 6 electric car-share program and 457 kW PV with 7-day emergency backup.
