Biomimicry, Stormwater, & Place: Designing to Emulate Your Local Ecosystem
TRACK: Water and Food

Attendees will leave this session equipped with a methodology for integrating nature’s place-based lessons of water flow into their own designs. They will be introduced to a Seattle-based research and advocacy project that applies biomimicry to building and infrastructure design and will hear about a new office building incorporating related stormwater mitigation strategies. With guidance from the facilitators, participants will innovate with others from their regions to shape successful ecological strategies into sustainable design solutions. Sticks and playdoh included! Nature’s lessons are applicable to most building related challenges so all attendees can benefit, regardless of profession or prior knowledge.
