StokeShare is an online marketplace that lets users rent each other's action sports gear, and in 2016 they launched its youth adventure program: One Watershed
. Through this program they partner with local youth development and environmental non-profits to offer at-risk youth an outdoor action sports experience. Their mantra? People protect what they love, love what they know, and know what they experience. Connect youth with nature and they'll grow up inspired to protect it.
The Institute is excited to partner with StokeShare's Co-Founders Joel Cesare and Warren Neilson to bring One Watershed
to Living Future 2017, and to connect attendees with the beautiful Puget Sound and Seattle's diverse youth community!
They will take twenty LF17 attendees on a kayak / standup paddleboard (SUPs) waterfront tour on Thursday afternoon (12p - 2:30p). The cost of the ticket goes towards the sponsorship of a kayak / SUP for an inner-city Seattle teenager from the Islandwood Environmental Education program. Attendees will meet the young folks they sponsored while paddling the Seattle coastline, and afterwards the kids will showcase their knowledge of the environmental challenges facing the Puget Sound.Registered attendees for this tour will also be required to complete a brief, 5-minute background check at an additional cost of $12 in order to comply with youth safety guidelines.
